Official Age Criteria for Agniveer Recruitment (2026)
For all Agniveer recruitment rallies across the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force, the official age limit is strictly established between 17.5 years and 21 years on the date of recruitment notification.
Candidates must ensure that their Date of Birth recorded in their 10th / Matriculation certificate strictly falls within the eligibility window announced in the respective rally notification. No age relaxations apply to general soldier trades under the Agnipath scheme.

Chest Measurement & Mandatory 5 CM Expansion
The chest measurement must be a minimum of 77 cm (unexpanded) with a mandatory minimum expansion of 5 cm upon deep inhalation (e.g., 77 cm unexpanded to 82 cm expanded).
Failure to achieve the full 5 cm expansion is an immediate cause for rejection, regardless of unexpanded chest width. Practicing diaphragmatic breathing and pull-overs is strongly advised.
Body Weight & BMI Proportionality
Weight must be strictly proportionate to height and age as defined in the official DGAFMS BMI matrix. A Body Mass Index (BMI) between 18.5 and 25.0 is standard. Candidates showing severe underweight or obesity (>25 BMI) are placed on Temporary Rejection (TR).
